Middle Age Skin

I turned 50 last year and I’ll be turning 51 next week. As you all may know, I do my best to make sure my insides are healthy and cared for. I’m careful about what I put into my body. Something I haven’t written much about is how I take care of the outside of my body. Part of the reason for this is because I haven’t really had anything great to share. I do now, so I’m gonna share.

Late to the Skin Care Party

I’ll be honest, I really haven’t taken care of my skin. I grew up on the ocean and spent every sunny, summer day at the beach. I never moisturized. I don’t think I even had a skincare regime in collage. Actually, if I’m completely honest with myself I really didn’t start with daily moisturizer until maybe 10 years ago. 10 years might be generous. Anyway, I haven’t been good to my skin.

As I’ve learned about nutrition I’ve become pretty good at avoiding ingested food toxins like oxidized fats, hormones, pesticides and other food additives. I’ve also become more conscious about toxins that I may be absorbing through my skin. This is important, the skin is our biggest organ. We absorb things into our body through our skin and we detoxify back out of our body through our skin. Being mostly toxin free on the inside is only part of the toxic load battle.

Toxic Load

Toxic load, the amount of toxins you personally absorb into your body through the food you eat, the air you breath, and the substances you absorb through your skin. There is no escaping toxins in this modern world. The best we can do is limit the burden on our body and hopefully give our liver the space it needs to clear the toxins we can’t avoid.

I think I do a pretty good job avoiding ingested toxins. Not 100% but better than a typical American eating the modern American diet (M.A.D.) Good, clean food. Got that covered. Step 2, being more careful about what I put on my skin. I’m not as good at this as I am about my food but I’m working on it. I am and have been on the prowl for non-toxic personal care products for a while and I think I finally found a skincare line that fits the bill. Enter Suki Skincare.

Suki Skincare

This brings me to my new favorite skincare products by Suki. My big struggle with my skin is dryness. When my skin is dry it looks old. All the little wrinkles show. I HATE that!

I am always looking for facial products that are non-toxic, natural AND moisturize effectively. I’ve had limited success until now. I have to say the Suki stuff makes my skin look amazing. My skin actually looks moist in a healthy way. Not overly moist, like oily. Just, normal, the way it should look or at least the way I think it should look. I really feel that Suki is a one of the best natural skin care brands that I’ve come across. I’ve been using Suki products for a while now and decided it was time to share.

I feel good about using Suki products. Here’s a quote about the companies commitment to purity, ethics, authenticity & transparency:

“we source fair trade, organic & local whenever possible, always minimizing our carbon footprint & supporting sustainability. all our ingredients are completely cruelty-free. many suki products are vegan. the sole animal ingredient – 100% organic beeswax. sourced from farms that do not harm bees or burn hives.”

What’s not in their products: allergens, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances/dyes, sulfates

Suki Products I LOVE

The image at the top is of the current product regime that I use each morning.

Step 1: Exfoliating Foaming Cleanser – this is a gentle scrub but ALSO a delicious smelling lemon essential oil. I always cup my hands around my nose and take several deep breaths. So yummy.

Step 2: Moisture Rich Cleansing Lotion – This comes in a pump bottle (no waste). I do 1-2 pumps then massage into my face do a quick rinse and move on to step 3.

Step 3: Concentrated Strengthening Toner – Comes in a spritz bottle (no waste). I do about 3 spritz’ onto a cotton square and wipe/massage into my face.

Step 4: Nourishing Facial Oil – this is my second favorite product. I use a tiny bit and massage into my face. This is when my skin looks baby fresh. My face drinks this oil up.

Step 5: Nourishing Day Cream – the final step, also in a pump bottle (no waste). I use 1-2 pumps and massage into face and neck.

Order Suki Products

If you’d like to try Suki products you can order right from your FullScript Account! I’ve created a category tab called Amy’s Skincare. I’ve added all the Suki products into that tab. There are more than what I mention here. I like the “nourishing” products but there are also “clarifying” products. There is a “Trial Kit for Clarity”. The trial kit is nice because you get a whole system of 6 trial sized products.

If you haven’t opened a FullScript Account, you can do that here – .

Your FullScript account will give you access to the Suki Product line as well as hundreds of pharmaceutical grade supplements. As always, you receive free shipping with all orders of $49 or more.
