The Mountrax Foot Massager: From Skeptic to Believer (A Hiker’s Honest Review)
Do your feet ever hurt so badly that you walk like a duck first thing in the morning until your body gets the memo you’re upright?
Or maybe you spend all day on your feet wishing for a live-in masseuse to bring them back to life?
Yeah, that’s me.
Why I Thought I Didn’t Need This
My feet are pretty hardy. My husband and I are avid hikers—anywhere from 6 to 15 miles depending on the day. I love my hiking boots, but taking them off? That’s the real reward.
At our cabin, my husband swears by the old-school remedy: a white metal bowl, warm water, and Epsom salts. Me? Foot soaks never did it for me.
So when we considered buying the Mountrax Foot Massager with Heat, I’ll admit—it felt like a silly luxury. Another thing we didn’t really need.
Turns out? We absolutely did.
What This Thing Actually Does
Think of it as your personal foot masseuse that never complains.
The Mountrax kneads, delivers Shiatsu massage, warms your feet, and has an automatic timer so you can just zone out. It’s a compact box with individual pockets for each foot (fits up to size 12).
Here’s how it works:
- Hit ‘ON’
- Choose your session: 15 or 30 minutes
- Select heat level (on or off)
- Pick Shiatsu intensity: Level 1 or 2 (or off)
- Choose compression: Low, medium, or high (or off)
The compression cycles—so it’s not squeezing constantly—and the whole experience is surprisingly customizable.
The Real Test: Our Experience
My first session? I went full intensity—high Shiatsu, high compression. Big mistake. It was manageable, but not relaxing. The ball of my right foot was especially sensitive to those kneading balls.
My husband? He couldn’t handle the Shiatsu at all. Had to turn it off and use compression only (which, by the way, feels amazing on its own).
Here’s where it gets interesting.
After using it daily for a couple weeks, our tolerance completely changed. That painful spot on my foot? Gone. My husband’s sensitive areas? No longer an issue. It’s like the daily massage broke down tense or thickened tissue.
Now I do full 30-minute sessions at max settings and just melt into it. My husband’s the same—full compression, full Shiatsu. I’m genuinely curious if he’ll be able to walk barefoot outside more comfortably now. We’ll test that come spring.
The Verdict
The Mountrax will be moving to our cabin as a permanent resident. I cannot wait to use it after our next long hike.
And I already know what I’m gifting my sister and brother for their birthdays this year.
What You Get:
- 2-level Shiatsu kneading massage (low, high, or off)
- 3-level air compression (low, mid, high, or off)
- Adjustable heat (on or off)
- 15 or 30-minute auto timer
- Fits up to size 12 feet
Bottom line: If your feet work hard, this isn’t a luxury, it’s recovery equipment.
